After stroke, is highly advised to work out and follow physical activity programs.
Stroke patients are confronted with many challenges such as diminished fitness and cardiovascular and muscular deconditioning and barriers such as physical impairment, low motivation, depression. Thus, moderate to intense physical activity is highly encouraged after stroke as it can improve hypertension, lipid profiles, glucose metabolism, and insulin sensitivity. Other benefits include improved balance, gait speed, motivation and endurance and decreased disability in general.
Also, besides increasing physical activity, sitting and other sedentary behaviors should be reduced, possibly by performing light-intensity, non-exercise physical activity, such as standing and walking.
